The Faculty Of The Performing Arts & Composition

Dean of Faculty: prof. Zvi Semel
Administrative Coordinator: Mrs. Rina Atias

The Faculty of Performing Arts & Composition comprises five departments: Piano, Wind and Percussion Instruments, String and Plucked Instruments (named for David Gritz), the Vocal Department and the Department of Music Theory, Composition & Conducting.

These Faculty departments train singers and instrumentalists for careers as soloists, orchestral and ensemble performers, accompanists and instructors.

The Faculty places emphasis on individual instruction on the student's instrument; a variety of workshops (Baroque, Contemporary, Opera, Accompaniment of singers, Piano for four hands, Wind instruments and more); and participation in JAMD performing bodies: the Mendi Rodan Symphony Orchestra, the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Program for Excellence in Chamber Music, the Opera workshop, the student Choir and more.

The Faculty also hosts Master Classes given by world class Israeli and international artists, and holds competitions and concerts.

All these prepare students for their professional careers.
