Marco Tamayo, Professor at the Mozarteum University of Arts in Salzburg

Marco Tamayo ,a Cuban born guitarist with Austrian citizenship, is acclaimed by the Italian newspaper L’Stampa as “il re della chitarra” -king of guitar- and praised by musician like John Williams, Leo Brouwer and Eliot Fisk.

Tamayo has been a soloist for famous orchestra such as philharmonic of Turin, Italy, Philharmonic of St Petersburg, chamber orchestra of St Petersburg, philharmonic of Culiacan, Mexico, philharmonic of Havana, Cuba, Oulu philharmonic orchestra, Finland, and has performed with famous conductors like Ennio and Andrea Morricone, Justuz Frantz, Philipe bender, Leo Brouver, Paolo Ferrara, Gordon Campbell, Kurt Redel, Hannu Lintu etc…

He has 6 albums on the market; 3 of them with the Naxos label, and countless reviews that express his talent, like Eliot Fisk, who commented: “ a perfect technical development and an extraordinary musical intelligence…”  

Presented as an incredible promising talent at the age of 6, Tamayo has won first prize at major international guitar competition like Andres Segovia, Michelle Pittaluga-cita di Alessandria, and Leo Brouwer competitions, having more than 25 first prizes at international events!
