David Stern - Music Director of the Israel Opera.
Having studied at the Juilliard School, he starts his career as an assistant to John Eliot Gardiner, then as principal conductor of Concerto Köln. At the same time, David Stern collaborates with modern orchestras such as the Basel Chamber Orchestra and the London Mozart Players with which he regularly tours. He also conducted various ensembles such as the Boston Haydn & Haendel Society, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Seoul Symphony Orchestra, the New Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the Gürzenich Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestra Nazionale de la RAI...
Living in France for the past 15 years, he founded in 2003 the Opera Fuoco ensemble, with which he explores a large, mainly lyrical, repertoire using instruments of the era. David Stern was Music Director of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra and Opera (Switzerland) until the 2011/12 season when he was replaced by Otto Tausk.
