Announcement of an opening for a position of Piano teacher at JAMD

The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance announces an open position for a piano teacher in the faculty of performing arts.
 
This position is offered to the appropriate candidate from the 2011-12 or 2012-13 academic year, depending on the candidate’s availability.
 
The candidate should have a significant international performing career, and experience in teaching piano on a high academic level. Preference will be given to holders of a doctorate or an equivalent degree in music.
 
The scope and academic rank will be determined according to the qualifications of the candidate.
 
The candidate is required to have full knowledge of the Hebrew language. 
The suitable candidate who does not meet this criterion will be requested to complete an intensive Hebrew language course before the beginning of the academic year.
 
Material requested:
 
1. Curriculum vitae in English.
 
2. Copies of academic degrees and certificate of prizes.
 
3. Recommendations from at least three internationally acclaimed  
    musicians.
 
4. A letter from the candidate summarizing his/her possible contribution to the Jerusalem Academy in the field of piano teaching. The applicants are also encouraged to suggest a list of academic courses in different musical disciplines (e.g., piano literature, music theory, etc.), which they feel qualified to teach.
 
5. It is recommended to enclose updated DVD recordings of the applicant presenting different styles of playing.

Selection process
Candidate selection will be held in a few stages:
The first stage of the selection process will include a review of the written material provided by the applicants. Results of the first stage will be sent to the candidates no later than June 30th, 2011.
 
 
A limited number of candidates will be invited for live auditions, which will include the following phases:
 
1.    A 45 minute lecture recital of a free choice program.
2.    A personal interview with the selection committee.
3.    A piano master class. The master class will be open to students and the general public.
 
The Academy is not obligated to receive any candidate from amongst those who applied for the position.
 
Travel and accommodation expenses will be paid by the candidates.
