ARIEL BRITOS, conductor
Founder of the System of Youth and Children Orchestras of Uruguay and Conductor of the National Youth Orchestra of Uruguay-Sodre. For his concern for the promotion of social intervention strategies through music he has been honored as “UNESCO Artist for Peace”, awarded with the 2013 “Fraternity Award” from the B’nai B’rith Uruguay and also recognized as “Golden Citizen” for two consecutive years by the Latin American Development Center.
He was trained in Venezuela for the conduction of Children and Youth Orchestras, by applying the method developed by Mtro. José Antonio Abreu, based on studying and learning musical instruments through the “Intensive Orchestral Practice”.
He is an active participant in UNESCO, the OAS and the CAF musical programs in Latin America and the Uruguay´s representative at IBERORQUESTAS. In the international scene, he has conducted as guest in Venezuela, Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Germany, and also conducted the National Youth Orchestra of Uruguay during its International tours: Chile (2006), USA (2008), Spain (2010), Panama and USA (2013), and “Germany, France and Spain” (2014).
