JAMD alumni Roï Azoulay, conductor of the choir at Montreal’s Congregation Shaar Hashomayim synagogue, as well as the synagogue choir and the synagogue cantor, shared a Grammy Award that was posthumously awarded to Leonard Cohen.
The title song of Cohen’s final album, "You Want it Darker", won the American music industry’s award for Best Rock Performance of the year.
Azoulay helped arrange the song and conducted the choir accompanied by Cantor Gideon Zelermyer.
Leonard Cohen's album had also won the Canadian Juno Award last year.
