The David Gritz Memorial String Competition

A two-stage competition for string players from the Academy, established in memory of the late David Gritz.

David Gritz, born in France and an only child, was killed on July 31, 2002, in a terrorist attack at the cafeteria of the Hebrew University on Mount Scopus. He was 24 years old.

David had played the violin from a young age. His violin, as well as the prizes awarded to the competition winners, were donated to the Academy by his mother, Nevenka Gritz.
