The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance is Israel’s leading institution of higher education in the fields of creation, performance, music education, and dance.
The Academy is home to 800 highly talented undergraduate and graduate students in music and dance. Students study in four faculties and may choose from a wide range of courses, from classical composition to modern choreography, Baroque music, jazz, classical ballet, Mediterranean music, contemporary improvisation, and more.
The Academy’s faculty members, who nurture the next generation, are performing artists who appear and teach around the world. The Academy’s graduates perform on leading music and dance stages in Israel and internationally. Among its alumni are conductors Asher Fisch and Omer Meir Wellber, the Jerusalem Quartet, jazz musicians Avishai Cohen and Omer Avital (double bass), and the international violinist Itamar Zorman.
Alongside its academic and artistic excellence, the Academy is committed to social engagement and community involvement through the Yitzhazk Navon Community and Youth Unit.
Each year, dozens of students work with diverse populations, including youth at risk, senior citizens, people with special needs, students in East Jerusalem, and wherever art and music are lacking and needed.
The war has demonstrated the vital role of music, dance, and the arts as sources of hope, comfort, and personal and national resilience.
With the outbreak of the war, more than 80 Academy students were called up for reserve duty. Thanks to the Academy’s friends in Israel and around the world, all reserve-duty students received tuition scholarships, enabling them to return to their studies and fulfill their dreams and creative potential.
Today, dozens of students are actively working to strengthen resilience and foster cohesion, joy, and well-being through music and dance among diverse communities, from the south of Israel and the western Negev communities to the north, in the Western Galilee.
Join us in helping provide scholarships for students who are actively contributing to Israeli society and communities by strengthening resilience through music and dance.
All donations are tax-deductible in Israel under Section 46.
