The Composition for Media specialization track is intended for master’s students in composition who wish to specialize in writing music for film, television, and visual media. The track spans four semesters and includes practical experience in composition for picture, orchestration, working with today’s leading DAW software — Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools, and Ableton Live — as well as recording and mixing.
As part of this track, students will deepen their familiarity with the world of television and cinema, including its various components, characteristics, and relevant professionals who interface with the composer’s work, such as directors, producers, editors, and post-production teams. Students will also study the history of music for picture and the defining characteristics of different genres. The core of the track focuses on applying compositional and artistic aspects alongside the technical and practical skills involved in writing music for picture.
Students who choose to join this track will gain hands-on experience in writing music for picture through various courses, with personal and individualized guidance. This enables each student to discover and express their own artistic voice.
Graduates of the track currently work as media composers in Israel and abroad, and have won awards at international film festivals.
