The Master’s Degree Program in Music — Master of Music (M.Mus) in Music Education — is intended for music educators working in a variety of educational settings who wish to specialize and further develop in their field, and to form a new generation of cultural, educational, and artistic leadership.
The program offers a rich and diverse curriculum, enabling students to deepen their knowledge while remaining continuously informed of current trends and emerging topics in Israel and worldwide, all within a supportive and professional environment. Studies with leading faculty members at the Academy include exposure to new approaches and developments in the field of music education, advanced studies in research methods, and seminars in preparation for the final project and performance. In addition, the program will include live and online lectures by leading international scholars and lecturers in the field of music education.
During their studies, students will receive guidance in preparing their final projects. Research topics are varied and include children’s choir conducting, early childhood, elementary, and secondary-school teaching, music education in multicultural contexts, pedagogy in the Arab sector, issues in instrumental teaching, teacher identity, curriculum development, the development of creativity, and more.
In addition to the academic curriculum, students may receive individual instruction in the instrument or principal discipline they studied during their undergraduate degree, with some of Israel’s finest teachers, who are faculty members of the Academy’s Faculty of Performing Arts. Graduates of the program go on to assume key and managerial positions in the Ministry of Education and in various educational institutions. The duration of the program is two years.
