The Ada Brodsky Art Song Competition

he Art Song Performance Competition is held in memory of Ada Brodsky, a woman of music and literature who served for many years as a senior editor at Kol HaMusica. Born in Germany in 1924, she fled to Mandatory Palestine with her brother before the Second World War. She studied at the Ben Shemen Youth Village, and later at the New Jerusalem Conservatory and the Academy of Music.

Among other things, she translated into Hebrew the poems of major poets, as well as many texts of art songs. These translations were published in three books.

The competition takes place in two stages and is open to third- and fourth-year undergraduate students and to master’s students. Piano accompaniment will be provided by each student’s personal coach-accompanist.
