The Haim Alexander Competition is dedicated to the memory of the composer Haim Alexander, a graduate of the Academy’s first class and a highly esteemed faculty member who made a significant contribution to the institution. The competition is made possible through the generosity of the composer’s sons, Gadi and Dror Alexander, who donated the prizes.
The competition is devoted to multidisciplinary composition in a variety of styles and compositional techniques, in honor of Haim Alexander’s multidisciplinary legacy, which combined art music composition with jazz improvisation, as well as the writing of arrangements and popular songs.
