Teaching Areas

Evgeny Bushkov is an outstanding violinist, conductor, and pedagogue, currently serving as a Violin Professor at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (JAMD). He completed his musical education at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, where his violin mentors included the legendary masters Leonid Kogan, Zinaida Gilels, and Viktor Tretiakov. His phenomenal talent and virtuosity earned him international acclaim at four of the world’s most prestigious competitions: First Prize at the Wieniawski Competition (1986), Third Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels (1989), Second Prize at the IX International Tchaikovsky Competition (1990), and First Prize at the Henryk Szeryng Foundation Award in Monte Carlo (1992). From 1986 to 2000, Evgeny Bushkov maintained an intensive solo career, performing on major global stages—including the Vienna Musikverein, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Philharmonie, and Paris Salle Pleyel—under the baton of such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Dmitry Kitajenko, Vladimir Fedoseyev, and Sir Charles Mackerras. His extensive discography features recordings on Harmonia Mundi, Auvidis-Valois, and Discover-Koch International.
Professor Bushkov’s pedagogical career spans over twenty-five years of highly impactful mentorship. From 1999 to 2022, he taught at the Violin Department of the Moscow Conservatory, where he also chaired the String Department at the Central Music School. Since 2023, his teaching career has been entirely based in Israel: at the JAMD, the JAMD Conservatory, and the Hassadna Jerusalem Music Conservatory, alongside regular collaborations with the Keshet Eilon program and the Netanya Conservatory of Music. Evgeny Bushkov has nurtured a constellation of brilliant musicians who now perform with leading orchestras worldwide. His students frequently win international competitions; in 2025 alone, his pupils secured three top prizes at the David Grits Competition, as well as awards at the Ashdod and Keren Sharet competitions. Graduates from his studio continue their professional development at elite global institutions, including the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (studio of Renaud Capuçon), the Mannes School of Music in New York, and the Royal Conservatory Antwerpen. Maestro Bushkov is also highly sought after for masterclasses across Europe, the US, Asia, and South Africa, and regularly serves as a jury member for international competitions.
Concurrently, Evgeny Bushkov has established himself as a distinguished conductor. Since 2009, he has served as the Chief Conductor of the Belarusian State Chamber Orchestra, having previously held positions as Principal Guest Conductor of the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra in Palermo and Resident Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI). In 2024, Maestro Bushkov was appointed Music Director of the "Mendi Rodan" Symphony Orchestra of the JAMD, seamlessly blending his conducting expertise with his pivotal role as an Academy Professor. Under his leadership, the JAMD orchestra presented the acclaimed world premiere of the "Jewish Cantata" by Argentine composer Martín Palmeri in Jerusalem.
