The Master’s track in Eastern Music is intended for students, performers, creators, and music educators who wish to deepen their knowledge of Arab and Eastern music, both from a performance perspective and from theoretical, historical, and cultural perspectives. The track enables students to broaden and deepen their studies of maqam, performance traditions, improvisation, the aesthetics of Arab music, and the connections between Eastern music and other musical traditions.
During their studies, students are exposed to a variety of courses that explore Arab and Eastern music from different angles — performance-based, research-oriented, historical, and interdisciplinary. Among the courses offered in the 2025–26 academic year are: The Integration of the Piano in Arab Music, Aesthetic Principles in Arab Art – Between Dance and Music, and The Music of the Rahbani Brothers Between Two Continents. In addition, the program may include workshops in Arab music improvisation, the history of Arab music, issues in the performance of Eastern music, and arranging and composition for Eastern ensembles.
