First-Year End-of-Year Examination
- A pre-Classical work, written up to 1750
- An art song in German — Lied — or in French — mélodie
- An operatic aria, from 1750 onward
- An Israeli work in Hebrew
- A work of the student’s choice
The Italian language must be represented in the examination program.
Subject to the decision of the voice teacher and the approval of the Head of Department, it may be possible to sing a pre-Classical work instead of a work from 1750 onward.
Second-Year End-of-Year Examination
- A pre-Classical work, written up to 1750
- An oratorio aria
- An operatic aria, from 1750 onward
- An art song in German — Lied
- An Israeli work in Hebrew
- A work of the student’s choice

Third-Year End-of-Year Examination — Half Recital

- A 20th-century work
- A work of the student’s choice
The Italian language must be represented in the examination program.
Fourth-Year End-of-Year Examination — Recital
A 40-minute program, net music time, which must include:
- A pre-Classical work, written up to 1750
- An oratorio work
- An operatic aria written from 1750 onward
- A group of German art songs — Lieder
- A group of French art songs — mélodies
- A 20th-century work
- A chamber work outside the fields of opera/oratorio, with additional instrument(s) and/or additional singer(s)
- An Israeli work in Hebrew
- A work of the student’s choice
A group consists of two or more songs.
The chamber work may be one of the required works.
Italian, German, French, and Hebrew must all be represented in the program.
Inter-Semester Examination
This examination is required for students in Years 1–3.
Students must perform two works, selected by the student and their teachers.
Please Note
The same work may not be performed in more than one examination. In the fourth-year recital, a student may repeat a work performed in a project, concert, or competition, but not a work performed in a previous examination.
All works, including works chosen by the student, must be approved by the voice teacher and the répétiteur / vocal coach.
All works in examinations and recitals must be performed from memory, except for singing in an oratorio or chamber ensemble.
First- and Second-Year Master’s Degree Final Recital
A 50-minute program, net music time, selected by the student and their teachers, with no mandatory categories.

Semester Examinations
Years 1, 2, and 3
Two works of the student’s choice.
* All works must be approved by the voice teacher and the répétiteur / vocal coach.
** A student wishing to transfer to the Performance Department must prepare repertoire according to the admission requirements for the Vocal Department, as published on the website.
