
Collin Hansen studied at the Eastman School of Music, New York, with Frank Glazer, and with Katarina Nummi in Finland. He received his diploma and master's degree in piano performance from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Following his successful debut as a soloist, he has been a frequent guest on the stages of major festivals and concert venues, as well as making numerous appearances on television and radio. Mr. Hansen's skills as a lied partner are very much in demand, and he has concertized in all the Scandinavia countries, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, France, Estonia, Mexico, China, Canada, and USA including Carnegie Hall. He has guested as soloist with several Finnish and Scandinavian orchestras performing the music of Mozart and Beethoven as well as that of Messiaen and Stravinsky. At present, Collin Hansen has a tenured position at the Sibelius Academy, and is artistic director of the Viitasaari LuomuLaulu Festival.
Lieder Workshop for advanced students, focusing primarily on pieces by Sibelius. The Workshop is given in the framework of the Sibelius year of the Performing arts faculty, marking the 150th birth anniversary of the composer.
