M.Ravel        Piano concerto in G major

with Refael Sakorka, piano

French composer Maurice Ravel, inspired by Gershwin's ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, wrote this piece with strong jazz influences together with Basque and Spanish themes taken from his childhood. It took him two years to write this Impressionistic piece, which is pioneering in the piano's expressive potential together with a colorful orchestration.

Guy Hershberg      Two piano pieces

Guy, 32, is an Israeli composer, teacher and pianist. Starting out as a jazz musician, Guy eventually turned to classical music and now studies piano performance at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. These two piano pieces recently written, combine elements from both the classical and jazz worlds.

II.  Allemande
III. Courante
IV. Sarabande
V.  Rondeaux
VI. Capriccio

Bach composed this piece in the typical Baroque suite style. It consists of a 3-part opening Sinfonia followed by 4 dances: Allemande –German, Courante – Italian, Sarabande – Spanish, and a light Rondeaux. The Piece closes with a polyphonic and virtuosic Capriccio.

By the time Schumann wrote these fantasy pieces, he was already struggling with mental illness. This 3 part collection reveals Schumann's bi-polar personality, with two fictional characters that are often portrayed in his compositions: Florestan – Schumann’s passionate, forceful side and Eusebius - his dreamy, introspective side.

W.A.Mozart          Sonata in F major for 4 hands piano, K.497
I. Adagio. Allegro di molto
II. Andante
III. Allegro
with Salome Rebello, piano

Mozart composed all  his four-hands sonatas with the intention of performing them together with his older sister ‘Nannerl’ to whom he was very close. This sonata includes virtuoso technique and witty dialogue of the players together with the brilliant elegance of Mozart’s mature music.
