These works offer a musical journey that links the Arab classical tradition with the freshness and innovation demanded of the performers. The journey begins with the great composers of Egypt, including Muhammad Abd el-Wahab and Mohamed el Kasabgi, Turkish composers, and finally works by contemporary masters close to home such as Nassim Dakwar, alongside fascinating original compositions by the students themselves and by graduates of the department.
