Privacy Policy

General

  • The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (hereinafter: “the Academy”) respects the privacy of applicants, students, employees, and the general public.
  • The terms detailed in this Privacy Policy outline the privacy practices in effect at the Academy.
  • Access to the Academy’s website and information systems (hereinafter: “the Services”) is subject to this Privacy Policy, which constitutes a binding legal document between the user and the Academy.
  • The Privacy Policy is written in masculine form for convenience only, but it refers equally to all genders.

Consent

  • By browsing the website and/or using the Academy’s information systems, the user agrees to this Privacy Policy.
  • By submitting personal information, the user declares that the data provided to the Academy is truthful and accurate, that the Academy may use this information in accordance with the Privacy Policy, that such information is submitted voluntarily, and that the user is aware that there is no legal obligation to provide such information unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Collection of Personal Information

1. Information You Provide to the Academy:

The Academy collects, stores, and processes personal information as part of its operations, including personal details, academic information (e.g., grades and courses taken), financial information (e.g., tuition payments), and medical information. This data is collected and used for purposes including but not limited to:

  • Processing applications for academic studies.
  • Managing teaching and learning processes, including through online systems such as the student and staff portal, the mobile app, Moodle, and Zoom.
  • Communicating with applicants, students, and alumni, and updating them about Academy events and new programs.
  • Managing human resources, including payroll, social rights, health services, employee welfare, safety, and hygiene.
  • Managing recruitment processes and employment and advancement of academic staff.
  • Managing the Academy’s financial systems.

The use of this information is in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Law, 1981, and the Academy’s internal policies on privacy and data security.

To achieve the purposes listed above, the Academy may use any computer system and communication method, including websites, email, information systems, social networks, SMS, WhatsApp, direct mail, and more.

Information is retained as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected unless a legal obligation requires longer retention.

2. Information Automatically Collected by the Academy:

When the user uses the Services, data is automatically sent to the Academy from the mobile device or other device used for access. This includes but is not limited to: device IP address, unique device ID, device type, geographic location, computer and connection details, mobile network information, user browsing behavior (e.g., viewed pages, interests), page views, site traffic, referring URLs, advertising data, web logs, and standard technical details. The Academy also collects data through cookies and web beacons (see Cookie Policy below).

The information is used for statistical purposes, website promotion, and improving the user experience.

Information collected by third parties: The Academy may receive user information from third parties such as business partners, service providers, and affiliated companies. It is clarified that the accuracy of such data is the responsibility of the third party, and the Academy is not liable for the use or storage of incorrect or outdated information provided by third parties.

This information is used for:

  • Communication with users: Responding to user inquiries.
  • Website services: Providing access to services and content, offering relevant information (e.g., lectures, conferences).
  • User experience improvement: Customizing services and content, enhancing browsing experience.
  • Data analysis: Conducting statistical analysis, monitoring performance, whether by the Academy or third parties, without personally identifying the user.
  • Marketing and advertising: Displaying content or offers of interest, including personalized ads, as permitted by law.
  • Site management and operation: Ensuring security, ongoing operation, identifying faults, and technological improvements.

Personal Information About Others

If a user provides information about another person (e.g., a family member), they must notify them and obtain their consent in advance for such use under this policy. If a user consents on behalf of another person to receive advertisements, they must ensure that the other party has also agreed. Any violation will make the user fully liable for any resulting damage and require them to compensate the Academy accordingly.

Sharing Information with Third Parties

If the information personally identifies the user, it will not be shared with third parties without their consent, except in the following cases:

  • Service provision: Information may be shared with affiliated organizations or trusted parties to help provide services, under confidentiality and data security agreements. Service providers are required to comply with legal and security standards.
  • User-requested services: If a user registers for a service provided partially or fully by third parties, the necessary data will be transferred to them. The Academy is not responsible for how third parties use this data. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third parties.
  • Legal reasons:
    1. If the user violates this Privacy Policy or any applicable law.
    2. If a court order requires disclosure.
    3. In legal disputes or proceedings between the user and the Academy.
    4. To prevent serious harm to persons or property.
    5. If the Academy faces legal threats due to the user’s actions.
    6. If the Academy receives complaints about illegal acts such as defamation, privacy breaches, intellectual property violations, etc.
    7. If required by law, court order, or to protect the Academy’s legal rights and safety of users or the public.

Databases and Information Security

  • User information is stored in the Academy’s databases and used in accordance with applicable laws and this policy.
  • The Academy employs various organizational, infrastructural, and technical measures to protect personal data, including advanced protection mechanisms. However, like any digital database, it cannot guarantee complete immunity from breaches or unauthorized access.

Right to Access and Correct Information

  • The Academy complies with the Protection of Privacy Law, 1981.
  • Every individual has the right to access information held about them. Requests can be submitted by email to: dpo@jamd.ac.il.
  • If you find that the data about you is incorrect or outdated, you can request to correct or delete it by writing to the same email. Responses will be given within 30 days.

Right to Erasure (“Right to Be Forgotten”)

  • Under the GDPR, EU residents have the right to request deletion of their personal data, subject to legal limitations.
  • Requests should be submitted in writing to: dpo@jamd.ac.il.
  • Please include identifying information (such as email address or ID number) to verify your identity.
  • Deletion may not be possible immediately if:
    1. Legal obligations require retention (e.g., tax, accounting).
    2. Legal protection is needed for ongoing or future proceedings.
    3. Legitimate business interests require retention, provided they don’t outweigh user rights.

In such cases, the Academy will provide a reasoned response.
Deletion requests will be addressed within 30 days, unless complexity requires more time.

Marketing and Consent to Receive Advertisements

  • The Academy will not sell or rent personal data to third parties for marketing purposes without explicit consent.
  • The Academy may send promotional content to users who have agreed to receive it, via email or SMS, in accordance with the Israeli Communications Law (Bezeq and Broadcasting) (Amendment No. 40), 2008, and/or the Protection of Privacy Law, 1981.
  • Users can unsubscribe at any time through the unsubscribe link or by emailing: marketing@jamd.ac.il.

External Sites

  • The site may contain links to external websites or online resources. Clicking these may lead to data collection via cookies or other technologies.
  • The Academy does not control and is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites. Use of third-party content is at the user’s own risk.
    Users should read the privacy policies and terms of those sites before use.

Cookie Policy

Like many websites, the Academy uses cookies to collect user information. Cookies may be placed on a user’s device when they visit the site. These technologies help personalize services, display Academy content and ads, track effectiveness, and prevent fraud. Cookies allow the site to recognize a returning browser.

Updates to the Privacy Policy

The Academy may update this policy at any time at its sole discretion, without prior or subsequent notice. In case of updates, the “date” at the top of the document will be revised. Changes take effect immediately upon posting the updated policy on the site. Continued use of the site implies acceptance of the updated policy.
