Sigal Bergman is a choreographer/dancer and Alexander Technique teacher living in Tel Aviv, Israel. Her recent work include Revert to Manual #2 (2022), Red Bitter (2020), Revert to Manual (2018) and Pale Fire (2016) all works that mix speech and movement. Her choreographies were supported by multiple grants from Mifal HaPais Council for the Culture and Arts, the Rabinowitz Foundation for the Arts, and by many residencies including a Bogliasco foundation fellowship.
Sigal is part of the improvisation collective ’Octet’, and for 11 years has taught a yearly course of improvisation to people who start dancing late in life at ‘Hakvutza’ dance school. She teaches composition at the Rubin Academy for Music and Dance in Jerusalem and has a private practice as an Alexander Technique teacher. She took part of Störung/הפרעה, an interdisciplinary project initiated by the Freiburg Theater and choreographer Yasmeen Godder that brought together scientists, professional dancers and choreographers with people with Parkinson’s Disease. She continues to teach dance class to this group through ‘Moving Communities’ and is part of the steering committee of the project.
