Performing Arts Faculty

At the beginning of June 2012, in a room added on to the JAMD library, the inauguration of a collection of music from the estate of Gary Bertini took place. Most of the collection consists of a large number of scores, a few of which include performance instructions written in Gary Bertini’s hand, among those scores being those from which he conducted his unique performances of Mahler symphonies. In addition to these scores, the estate includes orchestra parts with bowing indications and Gary Bertini’s markings, as well as recordings of concerts he had conducted.

All concerts will take place in the Jerusalem theatre

Into the Woods / Musical (14:00, 17:00,  Rebecca Crown Auditorium) - Director: Julia Pevzner, Musical Director and conductor: Nir Cohen.
A cast of fairytale characters including Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and other characters, embark on a journey into the forest. Their stories intertwine as they each embark on a journey to find something and then return home safely. The performance will include music by Stephen Sondheim.

1st prize: Florence von Burg, violin (Lihay Bendayan, teacher).

2nd prize: Leah Korchemny, viola (Michael Gaisler, teacher) & Micha Finkelstein,
                  cello ( Zvi Plesser, teacher).

3rd prize: Tomer Marcus, violin (Ludmila Feldman, teacher).
