Ilanit Tadmor is an independent artist, choreographer, dancer, lecturer, and teacher of improvisation and contact improvisation. She is a graduate of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and holds a BA in Theater and Musicology from the Hebrew University. Her teaching fields include movement improvisation, community work, dance and movement education for adults, and movement research in public spaces.
Tadmor is a member of the Israeli Council for Culture and Arts and serves on an advisory committee for advancing the status of women in the cultural field. She is a founding member of both the Choreographers Association and the Contact Improvisation Association in Israel. In 2005, she founded PLAY Studio, an independent school for the study of improvisation, body, and movement, where she trains teachers, therapists, and conducts workshops in the field.
From 2015 to 2019, she served as the artistic director of the "Dancer in the Community" project. Tadmor has created around 36 projects, which have been performed in festivals in Israel and abroad, and has taught in various frameworks, including the Ga'aton Dance Workshop and the Kibbutzim College. Tadmor collaborated with Palestinian choreographer Ra'aba Morcos for about seven years, and in 2015, they co-founded the "Gesher" dance company, which brings together Jewish and Arab youth. She also leads "Healing Dance" workshops at the Vertigo Eco-Art Village.
In 2023, she launched the podcast "It Starts with Movement," connecting studio practice with everyday life. She also gave a TEDx talk titled "Improvisation as a Way of Life." Among her awards are the performance prize at the "Shades of Dance" competition and an artist scholarship for an exchange program between Taiwan and Jerusalem. Her articles have been published in the "Dance Now" journal and other professional books.
