In 2023, JAMD will mark its 90th anniversary, and I could speak about our long tradition of excellence, about the recent prizes awarded to two of our graduates, about our innovative projects – but I choose today to speak about the JAMD community.
The project is a pioneering partnership between SHEKEL-Inclusion for People with Disabilities and the Jerusalem Academy, supported by Perach, a student tutorial project, and the US Embassy’s American Center in Jerusalem.
Students from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance took a classical approach to the flashmob as they flashwaltzed Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers at the new Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower in Jerusalem. Doctors, patients and passers-by joined in the fun.

On Thursday November 22nd 2012 the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance hosted some 30 children from the Mabu’im region. Following a welcome with light refreshments and a musical activity for the children and parents run by Ms. Anna Shapira, the children took a tour of the Academy library and practice rooms. The parents and children then split into two groups: the children took part in a dance activity led by four students from the Dance Faculty, while the parents were given a tour of the Israel Museum.
The Ben-Haim Ensemble, under the musical direction of Gaddiel Dombrowner, is holding explained concerts at the AMIT Gutwirth High School in Sderot for the second time this year. The idea of performing concerts in Sderot attracted Dudu Sela, a cello teacher at the Academy, who made the connection between the ensemble and the Association for Community non-profit organization: he liaised between the organization and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, making the concert performance a reality.
The Yitzchak Navon Community Unit seeks to share the wonderful offerings of JAMD with the wider community around us, in Jerusalem and beyond. We want to bring music and dance to places that need better access to the arts.
