Reasons to Be Proud

Roi Dayan holds an undergraduate degree in Mandolin, Performing Arts and a graduate degree in Contemporary Music (Tedarim). Roi was awarded first prize in the 12th ARTE International Mandolin Festival and Competition held in Tokyo in July. This is a prestigious festival that draws leading mandolinists from all over the world, and Roi’s success has enhanced the name of the Academy.

Congratulations to the graduate of the Cross-disciplinary Composition Department, Nami Melumad, who composed the music for the new Thor film with Michael Giacchino - Thor: Love and Thunder.

JAMD Alumni Roï Azoulay Among 2017 Grammy Award Winners

JAMD alumni Roï Azoulay, conductor of the choir at Montreal’s Congregation Shaar Hashomayim synagogue, as well as the synagogue choir and the synagogue cantor, shared a Grammy Award that was posthumously awarded to Leonard Cohen.

The title song of Cohen’s final album, "You Want it Darker", won the American music industry’s award for Best Rock Performance of the year.

Azoulay helped arrange the song and conducted the choir accompanied by Cantor Gideon Zelermyer.

JAMD Alumni Boaz Dorot is the Winner of the 2018 Ben Steinberg Young Composer’s Award

JAMD congratulates Boaz Dorot, a composer, arranger, choir conductor, pianist and music educator for the winning of the 2018 Ben Steinberg Young Composer’s Award.

Boaz won for his composition "Mei-ayin Yavo Ezri?" a trio for Violin Cello and Piano inspired by Psalm 121.

The Ben Steinberg Young Composer’s Award is a project to encourage young Jewish composers to write appropriate, serious works for synagogue and concert, and to build an increasing body of new Jewish works for presentation.
